Akumon Profiles: Tallcat
1/28/13 by kittybat556
I have been working on a show based off of pokemon called Akumon for over two years. I have put a lot of work into the animal species I will feature in this show, and now I'm going to post some profiles of the animals that are seen in my upcoming anime. For now, I will talk about my latest creation, which is called...the Tallcat.
The Tallcat is the Akumon version of the real-life Giraffe. Tallcats are the gentle giants of the Akumon world, and they possess a powerful ability to blow great gusts of wind from their mouths. They are the only feline species in Akumon to not hunt land mammals. Lavermin and other animals being too small for them, the herds usually just eat large fish found in the ocean. They walk out to sea, then catch a fish, and shortly leave to re-groom themselves so that the water doesn't ruin their shiny, soft coat of fur.
Tallcats reach whopping a height of eighteen feet and have tails of approximately fourteen feet long. Their legs make up for most of their height, and come in a wide array of colors. Tallcats can be a nice denim blue with cream or white details, green to green-blue with lighter details to hide in the ocean and forests, or they can just be the average colors of a regular cat. There is also a dwarf version that is little more than the size of seven feet. The dwarf version still has the great exhaling abilities that it's larger cousins have, however. The ability is just scaled down a bit to lessen the dangers. The dwarfed Tallcats can do little more than knock someone over, while the larger ones can get a windmill started.
Tallcats are by far the tallest Akumon in existence. They have an interesting social structure, as well. Each Tallcat herd has an alpha. Each alpha is decided via a show of strength via blowing down trees. Whoever blows down the most trees in a single breath is alpha. For Dwarf Tallcats, they instead blow down whatever alternative they can find, usually young tree saplings. After deciding an alpha, the winning Tallcat must mate. After mating, he must raise his children after a good ten months of pregnancy. Once the Tallkittens (Young Tallcats) have reached a good, strong age, they are to leave the herd and make one of their own. Due to these nonviolent natures, Tallcats are miraculously the most gentle and kind creatures in the world of Akumon. It is unknown why a fish eating giant cat is probably the least violent creature on earth, though it may be due to the fact that they have no real threats and very little predators. Thus, they have no reason to be violent.
